Japan’s mobile reality is our future

A Special MobileMonday in Milan:
Join Us on the 12 December 2005 for MobileMonday’s Wireless Networking Event!
Italy’s hottest mobile networking community, based in Rome and Milan, is strong and growing with over 700 participants. We look forward to another great MoMo year in 2006. With the year’s-end party season waiting just behind the corner, we've decided to close the 2005 series of MobileMondays with a very special event about Japan’s mobile business, with presentations held by international speakers.
Why Japan’s mobile reality is our future?
Japan is the world's #1 in the mobile business with over 90 million mobile subscribers, of which 78 million are using mobile Internet services and 40 million 3G users, with DoCoMo and KDDI increasing at a rate of 1 million a month each. The 3G has services with speeds up to 2,4 Mbps and next year, the 3,5G services will be live with speeds up to 14 Mbps.
In Japan SMS and MMS have never been launched. Still, the open mobile messaging launched in 1998, and compatible with any next generation service, generates double figures compared to other markets.
The Japanese satellite digital TV is now mobile: since November 2004 users receive broadcasting directly from a nation-wide satellite broadcast with a mobile TV phone instead of a parabolic antenna, also inside buildings, cars and trains, on the flight, and in the underground.
Over 20 million people are using FeliCa, a contact-less mobile online & offline payment system. FeliCa integrates electronic money, credit cards, fidelity cards and door keys. At the beginning FeliCa was a stand alone card, but now it has been integrated with over 6 million mobile phones.
Why should You attend this special event?

The mission of this MoMo is to give the audience a brief, guided and interactive analysis on the actual and future Japanese mobile's technologies and strategies. Our special focus is on the great success of Japanese Mobile Internet and comparing their model with the European one.
